GARRS JULY, 2009, PROGRAM GUIDE

**Program note: “Eye on Blindness” airs at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July
29th, and repeats at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1st. Our guest
is Terry Wood who shares his fascinating career journey that began
as a blind teenager in Mississippi with a desire to become a
broadcaster, and who literally camped out at a local radio station
until he was hired. Mr. Wood now owns and operates radio station
WTWZ in Jackson, Mississippi. Dick Edwards is our host.
**Special Programming: Independence Day programs will air on Friday,
July 3rd, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except in Savannah and Macon), and 4:00
p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The normal 11 a.m. repeat of the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution will air instead at 6 p.m.

In
Memory of Jim Cashin
The staff and volunteers at the Georgia Radio Reading
Service acknowledge the passing on Thursday, June 11th, of
Jim Cashin, co-founder of GaRRS, our first Executive
Director, and the leader of our organization for more than
20 years.
Jim was the force behind GaRRS' incorporation and
its lasting vision of bringing the printed word to blind and
visually-impaired Georgians through volunteer readers and
special radios. We are grateful for the legacy that Jim
Cashin leaves us and for his many contributions to our
organization, to our community, and to our state. We offer
our sincere condolences to his family.

Thanks to our friends at Georgia Public Broadcasting, GaRRS is available online
via streaming audio. The feed is available to blind and print-disabled internet
users, and requires a username and password for access.
